I feel flabbergasted looking at those ones with a mealy hen on her nest, with unmoulted pulli, and the successive with her pulli moulting. Astonished, really, I mean.
I'm asking whether ther's anyone who feeds any doubt about a possible London Fancy's rebirth.

Ciao, serin, come ti va? Spero bene. Mi sento frastornato guardando quelle foto con una femmina brinata sul nido, con i pulcini prima della muta, e le successive con i pulcini in muta. Attonito, davvero, dico.
Mi chiedo se qualcuno nutra ancora qualche dubbio circa una possibile rinascita del London Fancy.

Ho ricevuto ieri questa lettera, che a completezza di informazione vi trascrivo, dopo averne chiesto autorizzazione al mittente. Si trattava infatti di una missiva privata.

Non conosco l'autore del cortese messaggio, ma esso è indice di un rinnovato e diffuso interesse per la razza - vera o presunta - London Fancy canary.

La lettera è accompagnata a degli allegati, purtroppo poco chiari e tagliati, dell'Organo nazionale di stampa degli ornitofili inglesi, il notissimo "Cage and Aviary Birds":

le invio in allegato un articolo di Cage & Aviary Birds del 12 dicembre 1998 che parla di come è apparsa una nuova mutazione (penso che sia la stessa dei famosi LF olandesi), che provoca una smelanizzazione totale di tutte le penne mutate (non è specificato se nella seconda muta le remiganti e le timoniere diventino bianche o rimangano scure), il sotto piuma di questi soggetti anche esso smelanizzato, è bianco.

A mio avviso questa mutazione non è sovrapponibile con la mutazione del London infatti il L.F. era un nero-bruno a tutti gli effetti con sotto piuma nero, e a volte qualche traccia di disegno sul corpo (Spangleback), penso che sia questo il motivo per cui gli illustri allevatori inglesi non considerino questi soggetti come dei veri London fancy.

Per quanto mi riguarda, in questi ultimi 25 anni mi sono fatto una idea abbastanza chiara di come sono stati ottenuti il L.F. e il Lizard; prima di esporre le mie idee pubblicamente voglio vedere i risultati di alcuni accoppiamenti che ho programmato, altrimenti le mie teorie, senza fatti concreti sarebbero solo parole al vento.

as stated by Francesco the underflue of those birds is mostly white (some black flue always remain near the vent and sometimes on other parts of body like back and belly).
My personal opinion is that the old books were very vague about this point.(little - average or mostly black ?)
May be lot of work is still needed to perfect those birds and time will tell if it is possible or not.

Probably true. I agree about the unclearness of ancient canary books, regard the underflue color of plumage in London Fancy original subjects.
Anyway, I don't think it could be so important, and, fact that every breeder that is interested in London canaries ought to be aware of, is that perfect birds were always extremely rare. And may be that underflue characteristics were not so perfect too, but meaninglessly.

no, I didn't buy any - sorry I'm not able to start breeding birds (bird love is sometimes too strong in the women side but not shared with the macho side !)
